Gratitude Water Crystal, Mixed media on canvas painting, 120x90cm, was inspired by the images of water photographed by Mr Emoto at the point of freezing as it was exposed to the words of gratitude. The snowflake type image reflects the light on its many facets like a cut diamond.

Dr Emoto and his crystals

Tuesday, March 9th, 2010

The idea to paint fresh water crystals for the AquaTa Project came to me from the movie “What the Bleep do you Know”. Dr Masaru Emoto, a scientist and Doctor of Alternative Medicine, graduate of the Yokohama Municipal University and the Open International University, who was featured in this movie, found that molecules of water are affected by our thoughts, words, and feelings.

At the point of freezing, water samples were exposed to thoughts, words and feelings and using high speed photography, photographed them under a microscope. What he found was that the crystals formed in frozen water when specific, concentrated thoughts were directed towards them. The crystals that were exposed to the positive and loving words, showed exquisite, brilliant, complex and stunning coloured  snowflake patterns. At the other extreme, polluted and water exposed to negative thoughts and words, formed incomplete, dark and dull coloured asymmetrical patterns. No crystal formation was evident. To find out more about this, read his book “The Hidden Messages in Water” and   www.whatthebleep.com/crystals/ or  www.beyondword.com, www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWn4QF6dCwM
